Milkweed

Milkweed.
There she is.
In her fall light. It's crisp and cool air that whisks her seed away. The little hairs grab on for chance.  Maybe.

Pancake helper & other things

Sunny loves pancakes.  That's an understatement...Sunny Lovesssss pancakes.  Like, ya know, I like pancakes too.  But, not like Sunny.  This kid doesn't stand still for anything.  But, get him a stool and a spot at the counter and he is yours.  So we've started eating more pancakes.  Those pancakes include blueberries and a healthy dose of butter and a more moderate amount of *real* maple syrup.  Watch out for that imitation shit. Music also plays an important role in the outcome of your breaking of fast.  I suggest something funky.  This is no time for Nora Jones! Bust a move whilst you mix.
This was just brought to my attention by a dear friend.  Perfect pancake makin music.  Do it.  I bet your cakes never tasted SO good.

Nasturtiums poppin.  This seems to be the best thing I grow from seed.  I don't know what variety of this one is but I'm gong to eat that spicy piece of tastiness, yum.
More
to
come.
They're
just
getting
started...

Strawberries on their way, as well.  I planted these and the nasturtiums at the same time.  The Nast's took off and the straw's stayed behind.  But, if you know strawberries and their invasive nature, you know, they will pop up in due time. Looking forward to the sweet & spicy combination.

Back at it...

(So, I didn't blog for a while.  I lost interest and thought eh who cares.  But, it's a New Year and I'll give it another go.  I'm not going to pick up where I left off.  I'm just going to start again with where I'm at, so there.)

Dear Sunny Boy.  Nearly two.  Full of sweetness and piss & vinegar.  He seeks new independence and clings to me at the same time.  Raising a child is a sweet and bitter experience for me.  Sometime being a mom is easy and sometime I feel defeated.

Lentils & Stickers

In an effort to improve Sunny's coordination we play with lentils and stickers.  I witnessed a difference in his eating right away, so much less mess.  Thank god!  The spoon is reaching the mouth so much more efficiently.  Playing with the lentils is messy at first but it's nothing the vacuum can't handle.  And, this is way better then cleaning up food messes that stain.
The stickers have their benefits as well...I found stickers in Targets $1 area that are wonderful.  Wonderful in the sense that they don't stick very well.  Which means if he misses the intended surface they don't adhere so viciously that they leave a mess behind.  Nice.

(While I love talking about my dear sweet offspring...I'm done.)

Music, me likey.

spooky.
toe tap worthy.
dreamy.

FOOD.
KALE PESTO.
A BUNCH OF KALE. A FEW BULBS OF GARLIC(ACORRDING TO YOUR LIKING). HALF A LEMON. E.V.O.O.. A HEAPING MESS OF PARMESAN. SALT&PEPPER TO TASTE. AND LOTS OF WALNUTS

Basil is out of season.  Kale is not. Pine nuts are grossly expensive, walnut are cheaper. Branch out from the traditional basil/pine nut standard and eat it.  Trust me.

Odds & Ends

Junk drawer & it's items

We have two junk drawers.
This is ours, untouched.  Just pulled it open and SNAP.
It is what it is...

The drawer has nice pops of color and generally handy items. I would say a pretty decent junk drawer.  The flash light doesn't currently function at this time. And, those Twistable markers are out of order until cooler weather. They are in a pretty constant state of goo.
Hey George
Finally found that bucket of cranyons...those George Harrison crayons. Sunny colors! It's so exciting.

Kings Canyon

It is so damn beautiful.
Your jaw drops as you wind down into the Canyon.
We listened to a music mix from long ago.

Wedding Bells Ring

Married.

Hitched.

(Do you realize we floating in space)

We've got love.  We've got seven years of togetherness.  We've got a family.  We've got something I never knew actually existed until I had it in my lap. Love. Period. We have had ups & downs and made it out on the other side.  Who cares about the ring and who cares about the paper. It's about the ceremony and the ones that surround you to celebrate a union of love.  It was about living moments and feeling life blowing through you and everyone else at the same time.  A lack of separation between everyone in one space.  Everyone's thoughts focuses on one thing...US!

With family & friends & lots of hard work it was an amazing event.

Together we made decorations and called on friends for favors and help.

My girls.

His boys.

My family.

& his.

Just one big happy family now.

Big love.
